What is Reiki energy healing?

As defined by the Oxford Dictionary Reiki is:

"A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel the energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being".

According to the UK Reiki Federation, Reiki Healing is a Japanese ancient treatment to activate and harmonise our natural life energy. Rei means Universal Soul. Ki means Vital Energy, Life Force. It was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui early 20th century. The Usui way of natural healing takes place by receiving and passing on the Reiki energy.

It can be done by laying on hands on the client's body or as working in the client's field energy, as well as distance healing. However, Reiki energy healing does not discard traditional medicine, it is applied as an alternative treatment, yet it cannot replace professional healthcare service. Reiki energy healers are not allowed to make any diagnosis in terms of health problems.
